With reference to Colonial Regulation No. 62,

I have the honour to report, for your approval and confirmation,

the suspension of Mr. Alim Khan, formerly Third Grade Clerk in the Registry of the Supreme Court.

On the 1st. July, 1913, this officer was

purposely transferred to the General Post Office, and immediately

after he had left the Registry certain irregularities came to

light; with the result that criminal proceedings were taken against

him before the Police Lagistrate, who committed him for trial. The

Attorney-General, however, decided to enter a nolle prosequi, and

the matter was then dealt with under the disciplinary regulations

of the Colonial Service.

On the 31st. October a letter, copy enclosed,

was addressed to ir. Alim Khan. I attach a copy of his reply, dated

the 11th. November, and a copy of a further letter, dated the 24th. November, in which the Colonial Secretary informed him that the question of his suspension would be considered by a Committee of

the Executive Council. I had interdicted Kr. Alim Khan from the exercise of the powers and functions of his office with effect from the 18th. July, and pending the proceedings for his suspension he was permitted to draw two-thirds of his salary.

For the purpose of the enquiry Lr. Severn appointed a Committee of the Council consisting of Mr. J. A. S.
